Participatory Evaluation of the Tobacco and Education Project (TPEP) Community Programs – Phase 3
Purpose: The purpose of this project is to provide participatory based evaluation services to Oregon’s Tobacco Prevention and Education Project (TPEP) Community Programs. The project involves creating an evaluation design, including identifying relevant research questions and data collection methods; developing measurable indicators of implementation and outcomes; and designing evaluation and reporting tools.
Project Design: This project utilizes the principals of community based participatory research (CBPR). CBPR is an approach to evaluation engages program stakeholders (including program funders, directors, staff, participants, and broader community members) in the evaluation process through an ongoing dialogue meant to facilitate shared learning and power about the evaluation design, data collection, and use of information. CBPR is a technique that asks community members to engage in a process of developing locally and culturally appropriate techniques to collect information to answer the questions that these stakeholders want to know.
