Public Private Ventures Impact Study of Friends of the Children, Portland
The Friends of the Children program serves high-risk youth recruited in the first grade by providing paid mentors who work with the children through high school. NPC subcontracted with PPV, which had a grant from the RWJF to conduct a longitudinal impact study of the FOC program, using a quasi-experimental, non-equivalent control group design. NPC assisted in recruiting students—working with program staff to locate and contact students in the comparison group—and tracking and interviewing youth in the study.
