Scott Burrus, Research Associate at NPC Research, has been involved in program evaluation, social policy research and program development and consultation for over 13 years. His experience includes program technical assistance, multi-site project coordination and management, evaluation design, database management, field data collection methods, and qualitative data analysis. Dr. Burrus’ primary interests lie in the areas of juvenile substance use prevention and child welfare policy.
Focusing in the child welfare and substance abuse content areas, his primary project responsibilities include database management, project coordination (including data collection coordination, interview staff supervision, and instrument development), assisting with qualitative and quantitative data analysis across various projects, and providing data use technical assistance to programs. For the past 8 years Dr. Burrus managed multi-site projects focused on understanding how the judicial, child welfare, and treatment systems serve families involved with child welfare due to parental substance abuse. Most recently he has managed a large multi-site evaluation of the Family Treatment Drug Court model.
Dr. Burrus is a member of the American Evaluation Association. Prior to working at NPC he worked as a researcher at a national research firm. Dr. Burrus has developed two community-based nonprofit organizations, and has been recognized by the mayor of Portland for his commitment to the community. An applied psychologist by training, Dr. Burrus has worked as a substance use counselor, college advisor, and adoptive parent counselor.More information on Scott Burrus
